It is the day of Gevurah within Chesed, discipline within love. On this day, I am thinking about the way I treat the people in my life who I love – my family, friends and members of my community. I think about the way that I am careful to be consistently kind and forgiving with the people I love – and the ways that I feel to be. I consider how I can be lazy or inconsiderate in allowing myself to take people I care about for granted.
On this second day of the Counting of the Omer, I make a commitment to do a better job of loving the people I care about with consistent consideration and challenge myself to be more present and attentive to the people who are most dear to me. I also think about being better at consistently taking care of myself and noticing when I am cheating myself of the time I need to be kind to myself.
May this be a day for you that makes your love lasting and powerful.
